Happy thoughts of Democratic victories

I was walking out of the post office yesterday, the one in North Scottsdale off 82nd and Evans, and saw J.D. Hayworth walking in.  He was in exercise clothes and looked like he’d just left his daily spin class (in other words, hot and tired).

Maybe it was my imagination, but he smiled expectantly at the two of us who were leaving, as if he were waiting for us to call to him in recognition.  As I walked back to work, I was full of happy thoughts, memories of election night 2006 (November election, not the primary) and of Mitchell’s win, and of election night 2008, when I hope to see one of our Democratic candidates win in Congressional District 1 (currently held by that crook, Renzi).

Which reminds me, CD1 is already gearing up on the Democrats side.  We have Howard Shanker, an environmental attorney (he scores bonus points for actually mentioning Casa Grande and Pinal County on his Web site); Mary Kim Titla (she has a good story and is a great speaker, but rumor has it that she’s anti-choice); and Ann Kirkpatrick, a former State Representative (she scores bonus points for calling people - herself - to ask for their support).  I haven’t decided who I’m going to support, but I expect to see a lot of good things come out of this race (which I’ll document here).

As for Hayworth, let’s think happy thoughts - that we’ve seen the last of him in politics.

Full disclosure: I’ve given advice and suggestions to Howard Shanker’s campaign and to Ann Kirkpatrick for campaigning in the Pinal County area of CD1 and may offer additional help in the coming months.
