Like Father, Like Son

The other day I was in Tempe, and noticed a campaign sign for Mark Mitchell. He is running for re-election to the Tempe City Council. Guess who’s sign Mark’s was exactly like (hint: another prominent Tempe politician, recently elected to Congress, who’s last name is also Mitchell). I bring this up because Laura Pastor caught so much flack for making her signs and stuff look a lot like her father’s. My opinion then, and now, is that if she was a son rather than a daughter, it wouldn’t even have been an issue. Haven’t heard any scuttlebutt about Mark’s signs (please let me know if you do).

The difference is that Mark Mitchell has his own record to run on. Laura Pastor’s campaign to me seemed to run on her last name and showing up to debates.

    er
I see you are not a Laura supporter which is fine, BUT, Laura is an accomplished young woman with her own record to be proud of. She walked and talked to voters every single day. To say she just showed up to debates is simply incorrect.

“His own record” not withstanding, Katie’s point is that Mark is using similar themes to his dad’s signs in his own, which is what Laura was criticized for doing. She is pointing out a double standard.
