See if you can spot the disparity! Seems the coverage concerning Barack’s six-degrees-of-separation tenuous link to Louis Farrakhan and Black separatism through his Chicago church is getting more serious journalistic scrutiny than Presidential candidate Mike Huckabee himself telling a crowd that he’d like to replace the Constitution with Biblical doctrine.
Washington Post op-ed about Obama’s minister giving an award to Louis Farrakhan (admittedly a controversial figure known for divisive rhetoric) for his work in the community with troubled youth. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/01/14/AR2008011402083.html Basically, Richard Cohen is offering a spruced-up version of the spam email accusing Obama of being a Muslim Manchurean candidate who will usher in the Islamist coup.

In fairness, they did mention the Huckabee thing on MSNBC. It prompted Joe Scarborough to describe it as “interesting”, before he moved on to the latest Britney development.
Let’s wager on which story will be the subject of more handwringing in the media the next few days, shall we? Will it be the one where the black guy’s friend of a friend is a religious extremist or the one where the white dude tells us he personally wants to impose Sharia law on us?
$20 says it’s the first one.

Huckabee may be the Rep candidate I’m most worried about in the general election. If the Democratic nominee is a corporatist/DLC type like Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama (and it seems likely that one of them will be the nominee), they’ll have trouble with his economic populist message.
He could siphon off a lot of the Labor vote. Combine that with the fact that most Rep voters would rather vote for an insane white guy than for a black man or white woman and you have a recipe for the Reps retaining the White House.
I’d really like to think Craig is incorrect, but sadly, I do not. I’d also like to think that this nation is forward thinking enough to elect the better candidate for the job, but each day that goes by with information like this (and I read the MSNBC post as well regarding Gov. Huckabee’s stance on the Constitution) makes me fear that is also not the case.
All we can do is try to get the message out to the voters who do not allow the pulpit to dictate which radical cleric to vote for and hope that once that voting booth is closed they will vote for the better person, not the one God told them to vote for.
Huckabye? He’s toast I think. Huckabee seems to want fundamentalism. It could never happen, even if Huckabilly really wanted to do it.
I don’t think he does, he just wants the votes from those he thinks want one. I don’t think most of them really want it that much either. He’s not stupid enough to want to try to do it as POTUS, he’s just stupid enough to say it when he’s campaigning.
Huckleberry is too conservative on religion and too liberal on criminals and the economy and immigration.
Huckabye? Huckabee wants to have adulterers, homosexuals and rape victims stoned to death. He also wants to make alcohol and music videos illegal, and make women 2nd class citizens and to take all girls out of school.
Oops, my bad, that’s another ‘religion’.

USpace, perhaps you wandered into the wrong forum. I’ve frankly had enough of the punishment that Dubya has meted out to this country and the rest of the world, and that the GOP candidates seem eager to continue. I will gladly cast a vote for Hillary Clinton in November if she’s the nominee.
