Nader is in but is it to win?

Here we go again.  Nader has decided to run for President,  AGAIN.  In 2000, Nader took up valuable TV time till the very last moment.   Does he believe we need “change” yep.  Does the current system need change, yep.   I just wonder if he will ever come around and come to the conclusion is this the best way to get this change?  Not in my book.

I don’t think the political system is perfect, I don’t think the Democratic Party is perfect.  But leaving the party will not make it perfect.  I am naive enough to believe that I can change the system.  This is why I have put so much time and energy into Emerge.   Nader just went on to say that there was nobody in the party that was working for single payer health care system.  True.  The reality is the candidate who gets elected only provides leadership, it is Congress that actually works and passes legislation with the President and their cabinet (love that I did not have to just write his) administration weigh in.  If Nader wants to have a real say -run for Congress, run for anything - but why run for President.

My heart rate goes up 10 beats whenever I hear or see Nader.  I have flashbacks of being at ground zero for 2000- Palm Beach, FL.  We knew it would come down to a few votes and he would not back down.  If he is so serious about his agenda is this the best way to get there? It is clear the answer is NO!  I can see it now - all the Republicans going to Nader’s web site and giving him money.  Nader is the Republican dream, he takes votes from Democrats.  Hopefully this election will not be close like 2000 but it very well will be.  2000 came down to 537 votes- thats it!  How can Nader not feel some turmoil about running.

Nader has done so many good things why would you let your ego drive your agenda.  He will be more known as a spoiler rather than the person who saved so many lives from unsafe cars.  He is correct it is not his fault Gore did not win in 2000 but he sure didn’t help him win.

Nader you know you can’t win- you are a smart guy.  What are you really running for?  I am all for candidates running even if they can’t win but they help the ticket and make a name for themselves the next time around.  This is not the case for Nader.  Nader is not in it to win it.  He is in it to spoil it and be a thorn in the side of the Democrats.  537 votes is all that comes to my mind when I think of Nader.  Here we go again.
