No matter how far we come we still have so far to go….

I have just come home from another 3 hour HOA meeting- yep I sit on the board.  I have quit so many times I can no longer remember how many times.  I stay because I am a voice of reason on the board.  It is not easy.  I think I am the only Democrat and out of 7 I am one of 2 women.  One of the reasons why I am still on the board is because they tried to  illegally kick me off and that is NOT going to happen, see it is a matter of principal to me.  The reason they wanted me off the board was because of my support for Hillary.  They told me I was too busy traveling for Hillary and didn’t have the time.  Ummm, last I checked I was elected and you can’t just remove someone because you want to.  Heck look at Renzi, 35 counts and he is still in office.  Well they may have their prejudice but I am smarter.

When they tried to kick me off I dug in deep and I went to the meeting and was prepared to be arrested to make my point.  You don’t kick someone off the board because you are a right winger and they aren’t supporting McCain.  Anyone who goes to or is on their HOA knows just what I am talking about.

Why I am fuming is….well the first assault was when they “jokingly” referred to Bill O’Riley and said, Dana wouldn’t know who that is she is a liberal!  Now this is an association with a million dollar budget and that was the remark from the President in front of the homeowners.  I spoke up dead stared and said, “that is completely inappropriate.”  What really sent me over the edge was when we were discussing property managers.  The other WOMAN said, well I only want a MAN, and the rest of the MEN started to chime in, yeah I think that is reasonable.  Now, I am often called the nice one, but when you send me over the edge I can shoot daggers out of my eyes, at least I am told.  Well the daggers came flying and I kinda lost my cool, just a little. as I dead stared them all and stated,  ”We are not even engaging in this conversation and being a male or a female has no place in who will manage our community, being qualified is the only discussion I will engage in!”

Some times you have to speak up and call them out and tonight that is what I did and will continue to do.  When will gender not be an issue?   The real question is why anyone thinks it is OK to use gender in who you will hire.   No matter how far women have come we still have a long way to go.

Thank you! When I try to leave the neighbors ask me to stay. When ther kicked me off I put Hillary in my windows and turned on the lights knowing it would drive them insane. We can place political signs 45 days before an election it just does not say what election. I placed in Sept. prior to city elections. I out smared them and LOVED it!
