How pathetic - from 67th to 71th in the World!

The United States’ dismal standing as 67th in the world–in terms of the percentage of women serving in our legislature–has now gotten even worse. Of the 188 countries with national legislatures, we are now 71st—behind Iraq (33rd), Sudan (65th) and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (57th). Have a look to see the Inter-Parliamentary Union’s complete list go to http://www.ipu.org/wmn-e/classif.htm, and to see a map of the situation go to http://www.ipu.org/pdf/publications/wmnmap08_en.pdf
So, befor the US tries to tell Iraq how they should treat women maybe we need to look around a little. Last I checked women still struggle to get ahead in the work place and in many leadership positions. Yep, there are many reasons to keep supporting women and organizations that try to reverse these statistics. The organizations that I support are Emerge www.emergeaz.org , Emily’s List www.emilyslist.org and Arizona List www.arizonalist.org! There are many others these are just organizations near and dear to my heart! Together we will continue to work to reverse these statistics.
