Maricopa County has two great candidates vying for the Democratic nomination against Joe Arpaio’s BFF Andrew Thomas — Gerald Richard and Tim Nelson. I’m interested in hearing people’s thoughts about how this race will shape up, and what our chances are of defeating Thomas, especially if the primary gets contentious. There are lots of names I could call Thomas, but I won’t — he just has to GO!

I have said before that the first candidate that can prove viability will get the maximum contribution from me and I am poor. I think this is the most important race happening in Arizona this year.
I personally don’t know enough about either candidate and I have been running Thomas Watch for a year and half. I worry a little that Gerald Richards may not a get a fair shake because the Governor supports Tim Nelson. I don’t mean that as a criticism of the Governor or Mr. Nelson, but let’s face she carries a lot of weight. If the Governor is really serious about defeating Thomas she can help raise a lot of money which will be key to whomever wins the primary.
I think both candidates should write guest posts for A Democrat’s Lament or Democratic Diva explaining their candidacies (or cross post in both places). We should have a netroots primary and get them setup with some online fundraising for the winner. I would be willing to nag people to contribute and put a fundraising link on my side bar.
Both candidates are capable and really great for this position. The democratic party is lucky to have two great candidates (I’ve been getting used to saying this thanks to the current Clinton Obama run) but seriously, both are excellent choices are FAR better than Thomas! :)
Tim Nelson has what it takes to get rid of first class blunder Andrew Thomas. He has the star power and will raise the money to win that race!We need change now!
