Gerald Richard weighs in on Ankarlo book tour.

I missed this exchange when it happened and I just got back from Flagstaff (State Convention was yesterday) so I wasn’t aware that Gerald had been interviewed by Darrell Ankarlo regarding his Maricopa County Attorney RICO funded book publicity tour.
Give it a listen: http://spidel.net/blog/2008/07/31/gerald-on-ktar-ankarlo-show-july-31-2008-2/
Gerald takes an interesting tack on the issue. Whereas Tim ripped Ankarlo a new one in a press conference last Tuesday, Gerald is more conciliatory, assuring Ankarlo that he did nothing wrong by accepting the sponsorship, although it could create the appearance of impropriety. Ankarlo is being his usual nauseating dumbass self, at one point feigning surprise that Gerald talks about being tough on crime. “I can’t BELIEVE I’m hearing this from a Democrat!!” Oh bite me, Darrell. He also goes out of his way to stress how not a big deal the book tour issue is. So not a big deal that he apparently can’t shut up about it for the past week.
Athough I actually agree more with Tim on this, I have to say that I was very impressed with Gerald’s performance with Ankarlo. He got off a lot of good talking points about himself, ingratiated himself with Ankarlo and his audience, and pivoted the focus from Tim coming out on the issue first.

I was disappointed in both Gerald and Ankarlo. Gerald, for selling out. Ankarlo, for propping up Gerald. Ankarlo knows Gerald has less than a 0% chance of beating his golden boy Andy Thomas, so he’s doing everything in his power to get Gerald to win the primary. If Nelson wins, it’s a whole other story since Tim Nelson has the resources and intelligence to knock off Andy Thomas.
i heard this. gerald is a nice guy but he pretty much stole all of tim nelsons talking points. i guess he has to do what he has to do since hes so far behind tim.
I am so glad Tim Nelson brought this issue to our attention. Andrew Thomas continues to spend RICO finds as if its his personal slush fund. Nelson gets my vote!
I’m supporting Gerald in the primary but I’ll happily support Tim in the general. They’re both good candidates who will be a vast improvement over Andy Thomas.
I too agree more with Tim Nelson on this issue, it’s more outrageous than Gerald let on there…a sincerely terrible waste of public saftey funds.
What Andrew Thomas did was outrageous. He, and Ankarlo, should be ashamed of themselves. But they’re not, and that’s the problem.
Tim Nelson all the way. The guy is a class act and is what Maricopa county needs after the Andrew Thomas debacle of being in office.
