Sarah Palin is creepy and dumber than a bag of hammers but you better be worried about her
Posted by: Donna
First, the creepy part. This Daily Kos piece should dispel any notion that Governor Palin is a nice harmless lady. She belongs to a religious denomination that a friend of mine who is a rockribbed evangelical Christian considers to be “out on the fringe”. This is scary stuff, folks. Read the whole thing.
Sarah Palin’s connections that McCain doesn’t want you to know about
There are quite a number of extremely troubling links between Sarah Palin and neopentecostal dominionists–enough that, in truth, she may be ultimately as much of a “dream candidate” for the dominionist movement as Mike Huckabee was. Even worse, she’s running in a manner that has been frighteningly successful for dominionist groups since the early 80′s–specifically, as a “stealth candidate”.
Palin’s Assemblies linkage
The first link in and of itself is a doozy–and one of the most damning indeed. No less than the official newsletter of the Assemblies of God of Alaska promotes her proudly as one of the denomination’s own, and she was actually feted at an official function of the Assemblies’ Alaska District as recently as this year
It also appears that Sarah Palin is a member of a misnamed group called Feminists for Life. FFL in fact engages in “cultural appropriation” of women’s suffrage icons to promote a very woman-unfriendly agenda that–despite attempts to sound “not like those crazies in Operation Rescue”–would not only criminalise abortion but the IUD and hormonal birth control methods, and potentially everything outside the rhythm method
Like I said, read the whole thing and pass it on. One could hope that after months of hearing about Reverend Wright nonstop and the handwringing over Wright’s possible influence on Obama, that Palin will be questioned about her religious affiliations. I doubt it will happen, though. IOKIYAR and Palin’s pastors are white.
Now for the part where Palin reveals she’s not the sharpest tool in the shed. Here are her answers to a questionnaire she completed for the Eagle Forum.
2006 Gubernatorial Candidate Questionnaire
The following questionnaire was sent to all candidates for Governor with their responses listed in the order we received them.
1. Complete the sentence by checking the applicable phrases (you can check more than one).
Abortion should be:
Banned throughout entire pregnancy.
Legal to save the life of the mother.
Legal in case of rape and incest.
Legal if the baby is handicapped.
Legal if the baby has a genetic defect.
Legal in the first trimester.
Legal in the second trimester.
Legal in the third trimester.
Other:__________________SP: I am pro-life. With the exception of a doctor’s determination that the mother’s life would end if the pregnancy continued. I believe that no matter what mistakes we make as a society, we cannot condone ending an innocent’s life.
2. Will you support the right of parents to opt out their children from curricula, books, classes, or surveys, which parents consider privacy-invading or offensive to their religion or conscience?
SP: Yes. Parents should have the ultimate control over what their children are taught.3. Will you support funding for abstinence-until-marriage education instead of for explicit sex-education programs, school-based clinics, and the distribution of contraceptives in schools?
SP: Yes, the explicit sex-ed programs will not find my support.4. Will you support efforts to raise or lower the mandatory age of education? Why or why not?
SP: No, again, parents know better than government what is best for their children.5. Will you support an effort to expand hate-crime laws?
SP: No, as I believe all heinous crime is based on hate.8. Do you support parental choice in the spending of state educational dollars?
SP: Within Alaska law, I support parents deciding what is the best education venue for their child.9. Do you support legislation requiring labor unions to obtain permission from their members before using dues for political purposes?
SP: Yes, unions represent their workers and as such, should be accountable to them10. Do you support the Alaska Supreme Court’s ruling that spousal benefits for state employees should be given to same-sex couples? Why or why not?
SP: No, I believe spousal benefits are reserved for married citizens as defined in our constitution.11. Are you offended by the phrase “Under God” in the Pledge of Allegiance? Why or why not?
SP: Not on your life. If it was good enough for the founding fathers, its good enough for me and I’ll fight in defense of our Pledge of Allegiance.12. In relationship to families, what are your top three priorities if elected governor?
SP: 1. Creating an atmosphere where parents feel welcome to choose the venues of education for their children.
2. Preserving the definition of “marriage” as defined in our constitution.
3. Cracking down on the things that harm family life: gangs, drug use, and infringement of our liberties including attacks on our 2nd Amendment rights.
Pay particular attention to answer 11. Do we really want this woman exercising complete authority over her children’s education, or having any input over anyone else’s? I’m reminded of the wife of a conservative Texas politician who said, “If English was good enough for Jesus Christ it’s good enough for the school children of Texas”. Hoo boy. Once again, this is something the MSM should be all over but IOKIYAR and everyone knows that education is for smartypants effete liberals you don’t want to have a beer, or go moose hunting, with.
In my life I have observed that the most lethal pairing of characteristics in a person are that of being both dumb and ambitious. At all levels of society the wreak havoc in their wakes. Add a generous dollop of religious fervor and unyielding moral certitude and the tempest turns into a hurricaine. You get George Bush. Sarah Palin is his female counterpart.
I’ve known women like her my entire life. So have you. Hyper-competitive insecure Queen Bees who disdain feminism because they want to minimize the threat of other women. Palin possesses the traits that are common in antifeminist women like Phyllis Schlafly, Ann Coulter, and Camille Paglia, except unlike them she’s not particularly intelligent.
The media are swooning over Palin because she hunts and fishes just like the boys, while being ‘hot looking’. Don’t expect them to do their due diligence and vet her because they tend to be distracted by shiny objects, which Palin has in spades.

Wonderful points here! And I love the thing about getting distracted by shiny things —- it is very true (unfortunately)
I think blogs will be a big part of the campaign from this point on—people are starved for information about this woman, and are looking everywhere they can to get it.
I seem to remember reading nearly this exact same entry on Daily Kos, right down to the memory of the Texan. How strange, it’s almost like parroting talking points.
I didn’t get the impression that #11 was specifically about the Pledge so much as the Founders’ religion. But perhaps I’m being charitable, whereas you aren’t.
Nice try Bill, but Caribou Barbie was asked specifically about the Pledge of Allegiance in that question, nothing broader. Face it, she’s a moron.
Excellent job. I’ve bookmarked you!
