I know this feminism thing is new to you guys, but if you’re going to pitch a full on conniption fit of indignation over Barack Obama saying “lipstick on a pig”, you might want to remember that your candidate used the same common expression in reference to Hillary Clinton’s health care plan last year:

“I think they put some lipstick on a pig, but it’s still a pig,” he said of her proposal.

Generally speaking, there is an argument to be made that “lipstick on a pig” is a sexist expression, since lipstick is an accoutrement associated with females. Why not “it’s like putting an ascot on a pig”? But it’s common vernacular and rarely (if ever) used to denigrate women.

Oh and you might not want to call attention to disrespect to women when it’s not Barack Obama who has made offensive jokes about Chelsea Clinton and rape. Then there’s that little thing Senator McCain called his wife back in 1992. Do you really want to go there, Republicans?

UPDATE:  CNN just reported on McCain’s crude Chelsea Clinton/Janet Reno joke from 1998.   See, I told y’all not to go there.   Women have very long memories.
