Bad things to those who don’t pay attention to: Election Dates and Deadlines

Hey peeps and divas. Long time no talk. I’ve taken a hiatus and am still moping for a bit before I jump back into demdiva-land. In the meantime, I can’t let another day go by without reminding you that we can’t take another four years of narrow minded, misguided Repugs. Regardless of how you feel about my man, Obama (love him), he is the best and most inspiring choice.

Speaking of choices, you have a choice here. If you know anyone who isn’t registered, make it your life’s goal to register him/her to vote. And while you’re at it, educate him/her on the importance of this election and the best Obama for the job.

Your call to action:

  • Register one new Democratic voter and let us know so we can congratulate you (that’s what comments are for)
  • Register five new Democratic voters and let us know so we can make a big to-do over it in our next blog post
  • Register ten new Democratic voters, and we’ll dedicate a whole blog entry to you (content to be determined by us) – heck, I’ll even see if I can get our own celebrity diva, Donna, to make a personal congratulatory phone call to you

Your deadlines:

  • Voter registration closes at midnight on October 6, 2008
  • Early ballots deploy on October 2, 2008

Special welcome to our new diva, Tiffany.

Just got back from Obama headquarters, calling women 18-54 to phone bank volunteer. I got the best response since i’ve been calling over the last sixth months. Caribou Barbie is the best best thing ever to motivate Democratic women. I made about 75 calls. People were literally jumping at the chance to volunteer. I got 7 new volunteers to make calls next week and another 7 or 8 that are calling back after they firm up schedules. And this is in McCain’s backyard.

All the bad/silly/negative news this week hasn’t affected enthusiasm of the people to whom this election matters. We can win this thing, but we gotta work/give/register. So do it all.

And I already registered my 19 y.o. neighbor. He & I are going to do the whole apartment complex next weekend.

    We can win this thing.

Thanks for sharing that. It’s heartening to hear how great your response has been.

These are the kinds of things that inspire me to volunteer. I’ll be volunteering for local races in Pinal county and am hoping that by getting people out to vote for locals, they’ll also vote Dem downticket.
