What is this? Take Your Daughter To The Interview Day?

This is surreal.  John McCain and Sarah Palin double-teaming Katie Couric. This is actually worse than her painfully awkward solo performances with Couric last week. McCain admonishes Couric for asking poor widdle Sarah meanie questions and claims that she’s no dumber than other candidates who were governors. Like Ronald Reagan, who was a cowboy. Uh…huh? If Obama doesn’t open up a 15 point lead after these McCain-Palin-trainwreck-meets-a-freak-show shenanigans, I don’t know what to tell y’all.

My personal favorite is the outright lies of the McCain/Palin campaign. Palin says the guy said to her “What are you gonna do about Pakistan. You better have an answer about Pakistan” and she responded “We’re gonna do what we have to do to protect America.” What he actually said was “How about the Pakistan situation? What are your thoughts about that? … Do we cross the border, like from Afghanistan to Pakistan, do you think?” And her actual response was “If that’s what we have to do to stop the terrorists from coming any further in, absolutely, we should.” Check it out here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KTSs1Jc2oBU

McCain says it isn’t the first time he’s seen a politician “Being questioned by an expert”. Um… random pizza place patron is found to be an expert on foreign policy? I guess with Sarah Palin to compare it to, maybe he is.

So now apparently the definition of “Gotcha Journalism” is to ask a candidate a question and then report on their answer. If she can’t respond off the cuff, then maybe sign her up for a Toastmasters meeting. But just admit that she can’t handle this.

To Palin’s credit, it did seem that she was probably responding to something in a way that McCain would back. He’s so hawkish about war, his stance on Pakistan seems completely counter to his all of his other foreign policy ideas. He is only standing his ground on this one to be contrary to Obama. Couldn’t possibly admit that Obama is correct on matters of military operations.

“Gotcha Journalism”…. that explains her answers or lack of in the last week. This just makes them look worse. Thanks for sharing this.

I have to agree with you. Watching McCain hold her hand through the interview and answering for her was more painful than watching Palin flub on her own. Does she even have a clue how patronizing this is? Geez, i feel the clock move back two or three decades when I see McCain doing stuff like that.
