McCain’s Past is Past.

John McCain and his camp do not want us talking about Keating 5. It was a mistake that he made in his infancy as a congressman. He has since made huge reforms in his life and in the way he governs. He has turned himself around to be (theoretically) the pillar of campaign finance reform. I mean, come on people… that happened 20 years ago! He’s changed. He’s not that same man who was bought and sold for a few trips to the Bahamas!
Now, William Ayers on the other hand… This crazy radical who blew up statues and bombed the Pentagon (no injuries in either bombing)… He’s a terrorist who would attack his own country! So what if it happened 40 years ago! So what if he was protesting a war that most Americans were against. He’s a terrorist! It might as well have been yesterday! And anyone who would even shake hands with him is palling around with a terrorist!
The meaning of all of this is clear. John McCain is a Maverick-y Maverick whose past should be ignored (except for those 5 years he was a P.O.W. That’s still relevant). Barack Obama is a no-good, dirty terrorist-lover because he served on a charity board with a man who did illegal things when Barack was just 8 years old.
Did I mention McCain is a Maverick? Or that he was a P.O.W.? Also? Maverick.

One thing always forgotten about the 20 year old William Ayers is that when he did the bombing of the empty building, he slowed down our carpet bombing in Vietnam long enough to save some lives. So when he said *and he did say it) “I wish I could’ve done more” so do I. I do not condone his actions but I do wish he could’ve done more to save lives of women and children in Vietnam.
