Quick question for the right wingers out there.

Much like the late Jefferson Parish, La., Sheriff Harry Lee did, Maricopa, Ariz., Sheriff Joe Arpaio walks the line between all-powerful baron and populist champion of law and order.

Why are your populist heroes almost invariably multi-millionaires?

I don’t know that my heroes are multi millionaires. If they are, more power to them. Why do left wingers constantly promote class warfare?

Why are left wingers not jealous of multi millionaire Hollywood stars?

Judging from your response, Alan, I’d say it’s no wonder that you are so susceptible to the faux-populism and demogoguery of millionaires like Glenn Beck and Joe Arpaio.

    Donna,

I do not agree that Mr. Beck is a faux populist. Instead of labeling Mr. Beck with a broad insulting term, why don’t you give specific instances where he got his facts wrong.

That is where you liberals are weakest, dealing with detailed facts. Just like the President, who after talking broadly for an hour, no one can knows what he said.

Instances where Glenn Beck has gotten his facts wrong:

Falsely claimed that Van Jones was a convicted felon.

Claimed that community organizers from the Gamaliel Foundation “prayed” to President Obama. Not true.

Claimed an obsolete constitutional provision protecting the slave trade applies to “immigrants”. WTF??

Claimed that a “Class of 2007″ mosaic painted on tiles outside a California school was carried by G-20 protesters in Pittsburgh. What did he hope to gain by that lie?

    Donna,

Thank you for a detailed answer. Now if you would be so kind as to document when Mr. Beck made these claims.

Van Jones claim: August 11th on his TV show

Community organizers “praying to Obama” claim: September 29th on his radio show’s website

Constitutional provision protecting slave trade applying to immigrants: In his book

Bogus claim about Pittsburgh G-20 protesters carrying a “hammer and sickle” banner (which was really a mosaic painted on tiles outside of a school in CA by a 2007 eighth grade class): September 29th on his TV show.

    Donna,

Please give me some link to verify your claims. I have found a lot of Beck talking about Jones, but nothing where he actually called Jones a convicted felon. Most of Beck’s claims besmirching Jones character are confirmed by video of Jones himself.

The praying to Obama claim. I found a video Of Beck discussing a clip of the Gamaliel foundation, with a guy from Breitbart. The audio on the clip was so bad it was hard to know what was said. All I could make out was chanting about health care. The Breitbart guy was making the claim and Beck was trying to confirm it. As of yet I have not found where Beck himself said Obama was being prayed to.

I try to be careful about facts. I will cheerfully acknowledge that Beck made mistakes once I have absolute proof from you.
