So I’m wasting important time that could be better spent on…really, anything…arguing with what I assumed was some random teabagger facebook friend of Kevin Spiedel’s.
Some snippets from our exchange, which was about a federal judge putting a stop on the funding ban on ACORN recently passed by Congress:

I can see you are very excited over this and if you think your insulting people who have different views then your own some how helps i think you ate mistaken…but let’s look at the facts.

If you really really believe that people who opposed that bill are pro rape then I will lump you in with the folks who consider people that support a womans right to choice are also killers of babies.
The corporation didn’t rape the woman some sick individuals did. Looking at the place it happened I will leave it to a court to decide if isolating her was for her protection or some individuals decision to simply protect themselves and their job.
All the bill would have done is raised to cost
Contractors would charge for their services to off set legal cost they would have to pay for the numerous lawsuits people would file. In a society that hands out $10 million dollars to people who spill coffee on themselves can you blame them.I know you find it easy to blame all the problems we face on corporations and Republicans but 50 years ago rednecks in the South ran around in sheets hanging African Americans for the same reason.

I’d let a few typos and grammar errors slide, particularly because Leif claimed to be typing his missives from an iPhone. However, the large number of spelling and usage errors, not to mention the utter emptiness of his political rhetoric, lead me to believe that what Leif typed into his PDA is a fair representation of his communications prowess.
Please tell me we are not going to lose any races to these people.

We will continue to lose races to these people because they are fluent in Idiot. While we mock the the low-information voter, they pander to them. Guess who wins in a state where large numbers of uninformed people vote who are riled up by megachurches and Mormon wards? Not them librul elitists! That’s fer shure!
Ever tried asking random people on the street sometimes if they can name even one of their state senators or state representatives? Try it sometimes.
They win because they’ve sold the Republican brand, certainly not because of the quality of their candidates.
He couldn’t have been too good. Lagomarsino lost while he was there. Seastrand–lost while he was there. Unfortunately, Gallegly, the dimmest bulb of them all is still in office.
Don’t underestimate their ability to spin the message.
Don’t forget that a year ago the public was solidly behind health care reform, but the GOP has used scare tactics effectively to undermine it.
The advantage Republicans have is a simple message that’s easy to understand:
Government bad, taxes bad, illegal immigrants are taking your jobs, etc.
What might our comparable message(s) be?
How do we undermine the Republican brand and promote our own brand?
Oh, I forgot. The message is up to each candidate. We can’t have a brand. We’re Democrats. And we can’t be too partisan.

Sadly, my feline friend, Leif Larson is not a troll, though he occasionally plays one on facebook. He is, he informs me, now the president of his own political consulting firm with offices and DC and CA. He is working with a candidate who is running against Alan Grayson in FL.
