For a guy who’s anti-government, Buz Mills sure seems to like it.

From what I gather by his barrage of ads and his website Buz Mills is one ruggedly industrious individual.

He against taxes, spending, big government, illegals, spending on illegals, and, oh yeah, taxes. I went to Mills’ website, as I was curious to know how this self-made man made himself.

Owen Buz Mills was born in Texas and grew up in a loving household with his mom and dad, a World War II Navy veteran.

Great! I certainly hope the Mills family enjoyed all the veterans benefits to which they were entitled.

When he was 17 years old, Buz took the oath to protect and defend our Constitution and our country. He spent six years serving in the United States Marine Corps and Marine Corps Reserve. His service to our country taught Buz about leadership, about commitment, about sacrifice.

Thank you for your service, Buz. And if you took advantage of your GI Bill, VA loans, or whatever else was available to you for serving your country, you’ll get no quarrel from me.

Following his service to our country, Buz became an ironworker. He built bridges, got his hands dirty, and earned an honest living. Buz learned much about the value of hard work and sweat equity and decided to go to work for himself.

Thanks for working so hard to build public infrastructure, Buz. So what ruggedly individualistic independent endeavor did you choose when you decided to start your own business?

In the years to follow, Buz became a successful communications entrepreneur developing public emergency communications systems. He helped design and build 911 emergency operations centers and Emergency Medical Communications Systems. Buz created hundreds of jobs, built many successful businesses, and became an example of an American success story.

Cool! Great to see how you were able to profit handsomely from government investment in emergency response.

In 1999, Buz bought Gunsite Academy, a firearms and self-defense training facility in Paulden, AZ. He has since trained thousands of our country’s law enforcement officers, members of our nation’s military, and citizens from all over the world. Gunsite still offers over 100 training classes for military veterans at no charge.

I’m happy to know that public safety officers are getting good weapons training!

Buz’s 35 years of experience as an entrepreneur taught him the value of meeting a deadline and budget, and making a payroll. As a conservative, he knows that low taxes and less regulations means businesses will have the opportunity to succeed or not. He knows that government doesn’t create jobs, but the private sector does.

I don’t expect that Mills’ long history of snorkeling at the gubmint trough will be a problem for him. For one thing, IOKIYAR, and besides, he’s mostly made his fortune off of the kind of government spending that conservatives like – police, military, and weaponry. And I doubt even libertarian true believers will hold that pansy bridge building stuff against him. Say, do you think Buz was in a union? Meh, IOKIYAR.

I’m also curious as to the employment situation at Buz’s shooting range and training facility, Gunsite. I expect that he pays his instructors and administrative staff well but an operation that big needs a lot of maintenance workers. I assume he has contracts for that work. Wonder if he checks the immigration status of the workers the contractor hires or if he just takes their word for it. How many of the janitors and groundskeepers at Gunsite get AHCCCS, food stamps, or free/reduced lunches for their families? Of course, Buz wants to get rid of those things, on account of “you don’t raise taxes to balance the budget, you cut spending”.

(I’ve been meaning to get to posts about the state budget and the DHS immigration roundtable I attended Friday. I’m busy with household chores and planning a party for Tuesday so I probably won’t post anything major until Wednesday.)

Thanks for the link. Now I have to throw my computer in the dishwasher.

Whats up with these “manly” Goopers having to announce their creds?
It becomes Freudian very quickly with the check list of his so called accomplishhments. My cat sense is smelling overcompensation.

Bit of a mood, but guns and violence I simply do not understand., truly not. I would rather feed children than spend money on another missile.

    In response to Timmys Cat

It seems YOUR mind runs to the Freudian awful fast.

Your inability to understand that “guns and violence” as you put it is something that you truly do not understand, does not negate the fact that it is the existence of those well trained and willing officers, soldiers and other civic minded individuals that allow you to want to feed children rather than buy another missile.

You (and I do not expect a cat to) do not have a real understanding of how people are. There are BAD GUYS and we must establish and maintain the ability and willingness to prevent them from doing as they desire. They will not play nice just because you’ve shown them how better for everyone it will be if they do. They don’t care and you will NEVER convince them that they should.
