Tuesday Energy Blogging: Energy Efficiency Tax Credits for all you procrastinators.
Posted by: Donna
Yeah, I’m doing mine tomorrow. What? It’s only April 14th. That’s early by an entire day.
None of these apply to me because I purchased no major appliances last year (hell, I don’t think I bought socks) but if you did, and you’re waiting until the last minute to do your taxes, the Energy Star website has some good info about eligibility and how to apply.
Federal Tax Credits for Consumer Energy Efficiency
If you purchase an energy-efficient product or renewable energy system for your home, you may be eligible for a federal tax credit. Below you will find an overview of the federal tax credits for energy efficiency.
Please note, not all ENERGY STAR qualified products qualify for a tax credit. ENERGY STAR distinguishes energy efficient products which, although they may cost more to purchase than standard models, will pay you back in lower energy bills within a reasonable amount of time, without a tax credit.
Happy taxes, Divas!

Whoa! Slow down there! Don’t rush into these things. Move away slowly from the return form and take a deep breath. Don’t make eye contact either.
Actually once saw a guy on the 15th trying to do his taxes at a Mexican restaurant. At the bar. While drinking. At 5:00 PM.
I have actually been in line at the post office on Van Buren at midnight to drop my taxes in the mail. That was before Turbo Tax. I will be doing mine tonight.
