We Arizonans can’t boycott our own state, but we can support the good businesses here.

I met a pair of brilliant and beautiful young women at a fundraiser earlier this evening. April and Brenda are ASU grad students. April is an anthropologist and Brenda is a biologist. Coupla Smartypants McBrainiacs, those two. In addition to their rigorous studies and vocations, they’re committed to community activism. They told me about their website, Pro AZ.

Pro AZ believes to have a healthy Arizona, we must have an equal Arizona.

Pro AZ encourages residents to support local businesses that publicly display their respect for all Arizona communities.

Pro AZ asks local businesses who support an equal Arizona to publicly display this card in their work place.

Here’s the logo that they are asking Arizona businesses (and there are several that have already signed up) to display:

SO Pro AZ supports those that want an equal AZ.

That means they must support the new SB1070 Law.

Because ALL it does is direct the police to enforce laws already on the books and to apply them equally to all they encounter.

Any other position is a definite display of racism and that is a bad thing. Those who support a better treatment of certain individuals and giving those individuals a superior treatment based on their race are themselves racist.

So demanding that laws not be applied eqaully to all people regardless of race is racism of the worst kind.
