Memo to McCain campaign: Stick to country music at the rallies.

Sarah Palin is about to address an adoring mob at the Pima County Fairgrounds. MSNBC is going to carry it live and they keep teasing with quick crowd shots. Either some Democratic prankster is working undercover for the McCain campaign or no one there actually listens to or understands the lyrics of rock songs, because the song that was playing in the background during one of the feeds was, I kid you not, “A Well Respected Man” by the Kinks.

Cause he gets up in the morning,
And he goes to work at nine,
And he comes back home at five-thirty,
Gets the same train every time.
cause his world is built round punctuality,
It never fails.

And hes oh, so good,
And hes oh, so fine,
And hes oh, so healthy,
In his body and his mind.
Hes a well respected man about town,
Doing the best things so conservatively.

And his mother goes to meetings,
While his father pulls the maid,
And she stirs the tea with councilors,
While discussing foreign trade,
And she passes looks, as well as bills
At every suave young man

Cause hes oh, so good,
And hes oh, so fine,
And hes oh, so healthy,
In his body and his mind.
Hes a well respected man about town,
Doing the best things so conservatively.

And he likes his own backyard,
And he likes his fags the best,
cause hes better than the rest,
And his own sweat smells the best,
And he hopes to grab his fathers loot,
When pater passes on.

Cause hes oh, so good,
And hes oh, so fine,
And hes oh, so healthy,
In his body and his mind.
Hes a well respected man about town,
Doing the best things so conservatively.

And he plays at stocks and shares,
And he goes to the regatta,
And he adores the girl next door,
cause hes dying to get at her,
But his mother knows the best about
The matrimonial stakes.

Cause hes oh, so good,
And hes oh, so fine,
And hes oh, so healthy,
In his body and his mind.
Hes a well respected man about town,
Doing the best things so conservatively.

Granted, the song does describe a lot of Republicans to a tee, but still.

    Pima County!! ? Pima County!!?
Tucson is the place that swung it for Janet. WTF?

During the election the McCain campaign got busted more than once using music without permission. Jackson Brown actually sued him. Makes me wonder if Ray Davies is aware of this. It also makes me curious if Sarah (crib note hand) Palin actually understands the lyrics.
Oh, I would so love to hijack the PA system and play my song-

I would not be just a nothin’ my head all full of stuffin’
My heart all full of pain.
I would dance and be merry, life would be a ding-a-derry,
If I only had a brain.

I’m curious. I havn’t been there in a number of years (yeah, yeah,i had to take my shoes off twice to count that far back), but why would you hold something like this at a dump like that? It’s all dirt! Why not hold it at the Civic Center?

Maybe later she’ll be working the ring toss tent on the right.
