Arizona conservatives are passing around this lugubrious video tribute to the Republican legislators who railed against the Medicaid expansion last week. It’s howlingly funny, except for the part about how what’s gotten these people so indignant is healthcare for poor people.

I notice that the film is produced by American Commitment. American Commitment is a right wing super PAC with offices here in Phoenix. American Commitment is also a 501 “social welfare” organization that according to OpenSecrets. org, has been able to successfully shelter millions of dollars from the IRS.

Glad to see my Reps. in LD21 voted no on the Medicaid expansion. I sent each of them an e-mail congratulating them on their votes.

Wouldn’t those people between 100% and 138% of the poverty level ultimately have health insurance anyway – Obamacare provides tax subsidies for anyone between 100% and 400% of the poverty line so long as they purchase health insurance through the exchanges. Unless Obamacare doesn’t work for poor people, then I don’t see the urgency in pushing this through in the way the Gov and her supporters at the Capitol did.

Obamacare subsidies start at 133% FPL. The Medicaid expansion was meant to cover those making less than that.
