Homegrown terrorist strikes in Kansas

Dr. George Tiller was shot and killed in church in Wichita this morning.   Dr. Tiller was the only provider of late-term abortions in the state, and one of few in the nation, and had been the target of threats and harassment for years.  Someone finally got to him.   And since the shooting was most likely politically motivated that would make the man currently in custody not just a murder suspect but a terror suspect.

So I guess that means that we’ll be hearing right wingers demanding that the man be tortured in order to extract useful information from him about his network and other plots they may be hatching.   Oh yeah, we’ll be hearing that any minute now.  Why I bet there’s a post on Sonoran Alliance as we speak calling for the shooter to be waterboarded, on account of he’s a terrorist and all.   I’m sure there is.

You’re so right about this being a terrorist, Diva. Disgusting.

And while I know the vast majority of anti-choice people would never do anything like this, the “babykiller” rhetoric so many use helps fuel a climate of hate.

My hope is they’ll tone down the rhetoric … permanently. But I don’t hold much hope for it.

Terrorism? Clearly. So, let’s treat the murderers associations according to the defense against terrorism model: Round up friend and associates and hold them without charge.

Off topic: is LeftyBlogs still live? There have been no updates anywhere since Friday

Yeah, I noticed the LeftyBlogs updates are a few days old. I hope they haven’t folded like AZ Donkey Feed seems to have.

I am so sad about this I don’t even know how to respond.
