From Phoenix City Council candidate Sal DiCiccio’s expensive website comes this curious statement:

DiCiccio attended high school at Tempe High, where now- Congressman Harry Mitchell taught government. DiCiccio credits Mitchell for his interest in politics and government.

Too bad he didn’t pay attention to what Mitchell was actually saying about politics and government in those classes.

Clearly, Sal’s trying to appeal to Ahwatukee voters by name-dropping Harry Mitchell, though it’s not like Harry endorsed him or anything. It pleases me to know that Congressman Mitchell’s popularity is secure enough for a Republican City Council candidate to want voters to know that he went to school where Mitchell taught!

This bodes well for Harry in 2010. For Sal in 2009? Kinda smells of desperation.

Appealing to Democrats in District 6 would be a losing cause (everyone will see that when Dana Kennedy goes down in smoke tonight). The District is heavily Republican & Independent. Harry won the Ahwatukee because he has broad appeal — he is willing to reach across the aisle and form alliances with those that share his vision.

Well gosh, Ahwatukee, I guess the Republicans needn’t bother fielding a candidate against Harry then! Yet somehow I think they will….

Proud to say I was the upset of the night, I rose from the ashes oh and Sal 52% of voters rejected him. As for the republican edge in the district these are not Sun City republicans and I would say I am a better spender with donors money than Sal. Dana 4 mailings 2 robo calls and over 30,000 live calls and 15 doors knocked for 26K. Sal 4 mailers, multiple robo calls and who knows how many doors knocked for a grand total of 1/4 million bucks!
