Mighty white of them

Yesterday the AZ Repuplic informed me that the concern that some DC pols have with Sheriff Arpaio’s immigration sweeps is underwritten by their self-serving African-American-ness.Â
Arpaio also is drawing criticism from the Democrat-controlled House Judiciary Committee, where partisanship often flares. But here, too, observers say Rep. John Conyers Jr., D-Mich., the panel’s chairman, is motivated by a long-term commitment to civil rights. Conyers, like Holder, is Black.
Thank you, white dude reporter of the Republic. And thank you for exposing me to the insight of this conservative white dude:
Rep. Trent Franks, R-Ariz., a Judiciary Committee member, worries that hearings will exploit racial fears for partisan political gain.
“I think they would like to try to paint all Republicans as racist and motivated by things like racial profiling,” Franks said. “I have not seen one iota of evidence that the sheriff has done anything but enforce the law on the basis that he is trying to protect the people within the county he serves.”
Say…Franks, like Arpaio, is white. Wonder why the Republic reporter failed to note that.

Just, wow.
Wow — when did the DeLorean take us back to 1972?
Someone should send mr. franks some iotas of evidence on Arpaio’s sweeps or maybe give him directions to mr conyers office where he can read the iotas of evidence for himself.
Great observation!
Haha this is laughable. And I think that larger point is dubious at best. It is not like the African-American community and Latino community have always gotten along..
Also, in response to Franks, I can think of a few iotas, maybe the segregated jails or the dangerous storming of public facilities (ie Mesa) without informing city officials.
