More (mostly) bad ideas from the mean people. Part II.

Here are some choice statements from the memo.  Italics mine, of course.

P3s for Highway Projects  (I assume P3 is public-private partnerships.  Toll roads, anyone?)

Promote local manufacturing base by giving LOCAL manufacturers a 5% bid preference in the bidding process (Hey, that one’s okay!)

Cities – take anything we can (Invasion of the Revenue Snatchers – Coming soon, to a city near you!  Or the one you’re in!)

Rio Nuevo – continue funding the bonds that are already sold but stop the TIF going forward.  No more new bonding and all GF monies return to the general fund going forward.  (I don’t know enough about this project to comment but I do hate TIFs as a general rule.  Other than that, ask Tedski.)

Shift parks to cities and counties (Will that be before or after they ‘take anything we can’ from the cities?)

Decrease the need for travel expenses, use conference calls and technology  (Well whaddya know?  They are capable of rational thought from time to time.)

Stop subsidizing illegal immigration  (You mean like by making their low wage employers provide benefits?  Ha ha.  I crack myself up sometimes.)

Look at reforms in corrections.  Inmates should be 4 to cell.  Limit health benefits such as transplants (You can’t make this stuff up.)

Move prisons to Mexico  (Only if we can move the Legislature down there too.)

Why are correctional officer salaries so much higher than the national average?  (People should really work in prisons for the joy of it.)

Remove “mandatory prison terms” and “mandatory sentencing” that are required for those convicted of repetitive crimes even if non-violent, victimless crimes.  A lot of money is wasted paying for these types of cases in the prisons  (Hey!  There they go letting another smart idea get past the censors.)

My next post will be about their great “ideas” to save money on education. Some real humdingers in that section.

Do you have a link for this document online somewhere? I’ve been looking for it all day, ever since the Az Republic announced it had been released but didn’t say where to find it.

Could we enter into a “P3” to get a new state government?

Every time I try to post a document on the blog I screw it up. I successfully did it one time but my poor muddled brain can’t seem to retrieve the sequence of steps.
